There have been 1,238 coalition deaths -- 735 Americans, 10 Australians, 184 Britons, 125 Canadians, three Czech, 24 Danes, 19 Dutch, four Estonians, one Finn, 26 French, 30 Germans, two Hungarians, 14 Italians, three Latvian, one Lithuanian, five NATO/ISAF, four Norwegians, nine Poles, two Portuguese, 11 Romanians, one South Korean, 25 Spaniards, two Swedes -- in the war on terror as of July 16, 2009, according to a CNN count. Below are the names of the soldiers, Marines, airmen and sailors whose deaths have been reported by their country's governments. The troops died in support of the U.S.-led Operation Enduring Freedom or were part of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan. At least 1,781 U.S. personnel have been wounded in action, according to the Pentagon.
